I must admit that I have not spoken with anyone from KTM for a while because I did not want to give our 300 EXC-E. With the 2009 models coming I knew it was time to hand the 2008 Model 300, but I just do not want to face the music. To make matters worse, I can not go on farewell ride, I was grounded because of injuries. Oh, the pain of it all.

When we initially talked about the possibility of obtaining Long Termer KTM, we have been too fussed about where we got on the bike, but a real desire to return to the stroke. We are all fans of the 300 EXC from way back, and for some reason, Boyana once shared a deep desire to get back on board dinger. Even the prospect of mixing would cause us lazy buggers off.

That, it seems that it is time to return to the roots of dirt riding. Not just technologically, but also back to why we are all involved in this sport which is fun. Four strokes are incredibly good these days and the sport has never seen so many well-built and blinged-up to the wheel. However, a shoulder-wrenching output of 450 to be bloody scary at times, and when followed by 115 kg of metal and spinning tires, the average rider can aspire to gas as a hand grenade pin - one wrong move and your friends are pulling out lantana nose, as hokey magician pulls out a hat. Add to that the high cost of running a modern four-stroke and two stroke you have to ask why it is completely lost its attractiveness.
